About

Presten “The Priest” is a 500m pillar of beautiful granite straight up from the ocean. The most famous and sought after route in Lofoten, and likely one of the best long free climbs you will ever do. A short approach, pitch after pitch of fun and varied climbing, all on a clean granite wall rising above the emerald waters of the Norwegian Sea.

Presten is a few minutes down the road from Henningsvær, a classic little fishing village taken over by outdoor enthusiast in the summer months. The West Pillar is a 12 pitch route and has fantastic rock climbing up to US 5.10/ NO 6/ FR 6a+. A must do climb if you have the skill while in Lofoten.

Join one of our mountain guides on this trip and you will climb the West Pillar in good style and surely add a new favorite climb to your list! It is common to climb a day or two with your guide to warm up before climbing on The Priest.

The West Pillar Presten is a physical demanding climb and requires climbers to be comfortable following Norwegian Grade 6 rock climbing. Please contact us if you have any questions on your skill level.
