Before dawn a thin beam from your headlamp cuts through alpine air and the moraine ahead looks less like rock and more like a challenge daring you forward. This three-day climb to Nevado Pisco (5,752 m) moves deliberately: a transfer from Huaraz through the Santa Valley and Llanganuco, a steady trek to Refugio Perú at ~4,680 m, then a midnight push across moraine and glacier to a broad saddle and the summit.
