A ribbon of cool water threads toward the Caribbean, and the climb begins where the falls meet the sea. Participants step into a human chain and pick their way up layered limestone ledges as cascades press against shoulders and calves; at each pool the water sighs and the guide times photographs. Later, the road winds into the rainy hills above Ocho Rios to a cobalt hollow—Blue Hole—where Tarzan ropes, cliff jumps and small grottos punctuate a vivid mineral pool encircled by rainforest.
