Description

Your tour driver will welcome you at the dock beside your cruise ship in Civitavecchia. You will drive through area called Tuscia and some of Umbria, the green heart of Italy.

Driving in to Orvieto, you can stop at Montefiascone, a nice Etruscan town. Built right on top of a hill overlooking Lake Bolsena, it appears today as a small, charming medieval town. Enjoy the view from the hilltop. Montefiascone is also known for its great production of wine.

Then you’ll head to Civita di Bagnoregio! The natural erosion and seismic events through out the centuries, have formed and molded this 2500 year old Etruscan village persistently, gifting this little village with unique beauty and mysterious beauty.

You will then reach Orvieto, another beautiful village sitting on a “tuff”. This makes for a great stop for lunch with a view!

You can choose between a light lunch at the wine shop on the main square, or some local cuisine in a typical restaurant, carved in the tuff caves. After lunch, you’ll have time to visit the magnificent cathedral, and you can stroll down Orvieto’s quaint narrow streets filled with colourful shops selling beautiful ceramics.

Orvieto produces one of the most famous Italian white wines! The wine shop in the square offers the opportunity to taste some of the local wines, as well as to eat some of the prosciutto and cheeses locally produced. As an alternative, time permitting, you might want to have a more substantial meal and taste some of the region’s renowned outstanding foods at a proper restaurant. You will then return at your cruise ship, after a pleasant experience.
