Venice became linked to the Ringling circus community in the early 1900s when show families wintered in Sarasota County and used rail connections to move people and animals through the depot.
The depot and museum are maintained by local volunteers and the Venice Area Historical Society; support for preservation helps protect artifacts and interpretive programs for future visitors.
