Operated by Joe Banana Limos · Riomaggiore, Liguria
You step out under Liguria’s clear light and the road gives way to cliff and sea: pastel houses clinging to vertical terraces, a fishing boat nudging the harbor, and the scent of salty rosemary. The tour drops you in Riomaggiore and collects you in Monterosso, letting the five villages—Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso—unfurl at their own pace.
moderate.
8–9 hours.
Moderate fitness: comfortable with several hours of walking, stairs, and short climbs between villages.
Expect several hours of walking on mixed terrain—seaside promenades, stone steps and short uphill stretches; you can shorten distances by using frequent local trains.
The tour provides private drop-off and pick-up, but local train travel between villages is typically at your own expense; tickets are easy to buy at stations.
Not recommended for travelers with significant mobility limitations—many villages have stairs and steep alleys; Vernazza and Corniglia have notable elevation changes.
Popular restaurants fill up in high season; making a reservation or arriving early at lunch helps avoid long waits.
The five villages grew as medieval fishing and vineyard communities; terraced agriculture shaped the coast and the area became a national park and UNESCO site in 1997.
Trail fees and the Cinque Terre Card support maintenance and erosion control; stick to marked paths and avoid trampling terraces to reduce impact.
