The sun hits the plaza clock face as you step under Cartagena’s Torre del Reloj and the city exhales toward the sea. Within an hour a sports boat cuts through Caribbean blue, the water pushing you forward and the shoreline shrinking into a low line of coconut palms. By the time the DJ cues the first set, Cholón’s shoreline has already started to employ its most persuasive tool: a shallow reef-fringed shallows that invites wading, swimming, and a spontaneous coastal celebration.
