About the Chinaman's Hat Kayak Rental

Head out on a kayak adventure to Mokoli'i, Chinaman's hat, for some great paddling and amazing views. For this 4-hour or full-day experience, you'll be able to go at your own pace and have plenty of time to explore. We will be meeting you at our storefront in Kailua and will help you get the kayaks loaded onto your vehicle. We will provide all the gear you need, give you a quick demo, a safety talk, and then let you explore. Kualoa Regional Park is 30 minutes from our shop. Feel free to ask the local guide any questions before heading out with your kayak rental.

The paddle to Mokoli'i is generally very mild with a constant breeze towards the shore. Conditions are best in the mornings. It's good for beginners, but we suggest that you have kayaked in the ocean before or are an experienced paddler.

If you are looking for a real Oahu adventure, this is it. You will paddle through the ocean over a sunken lava plain sheltered by a barrier reef out to the Basalt Islet of Mokoli'i where you can choose to snorkel at the base or hike to the top for a panoramic view of the east side of Oahu. The climb to the top is quite an adventure, while short, there's a more technical climb to get all the way up the last part of the rocky face of the islet.

This experience is recommended for people looking for an adventurous thing to do on the island, but just need the right gear and direction to go. We have everything you need to live your adventure.
