The first thing you notice at the Eagle Track basecamp is the way the jungle leans toward the clearing, as if curious about the visitors who come to fly through it. Guides in crisp harnesses and helmets move with efficient calm, clipping carabiners, adjusting helmets and scanning the canopy that will take your weight and your breath. By mid-morning the air has warmed; sunlight filters through high leaves and the hum of insects becomes a backdrop to the quick, clean clicks of pulley systems and the patter of ATV tires on dirt.
