Adventure Brief

Climb to the ridgeline of Doi Suthep, then drop more than 1,000 meters on rutted singletrack through highland jungle and hill‑tribe farms to Lake Huay Tueng Thao. This fast, technical six‑hour ride is built for experienced riders who want sustained descents and cultural scenery.

No Experience Required

The engine cuts, doors open and the air at the summit tastes like wet earth and pine—sharper than the city below. At about 1,450 meters you mount up on a ridge that drops away in green waves; the trail ahead narrows into a knurly ribbon of roots, rock and the occasional washed-out trench. For three to four hours you climb short, technical pitches along remote mountain tops and then commit to a full-throttle descent that ejects speed and focus in equal measure, finishing at the placid Huay Tueng Thao reservoir at roughly 377 meters elevation.

Adventure Tips

Hydrate for the long descent

Bring a hydration pack and top up at meeting points—you’ll expend a lot of energy braking and sprinting over uneven terrain.

essential

Run a bike check

Ensure brakes, suspension and tires are tuned before departure; support trucks are available but repairs on remote singletrack are slow.

essential

Pace your braking

Avoid constant maximum braking on long descents—feather brakes to prevent arm pump and overheating pads.

info

Respect local communities

Yield to walkers and village traffic, keep music off and pack out any trash—small courtesies go a long way on shared trails.

warning

Recommended Gear

Full‑finger trail gloves

Protects palms on long descents and improves grip in wet or dry conditions.

Essential

Hydration pack (2–3L)

Keeps water and tools accessible during long climbs and remote sections.

Essential

Spare tube & mini pump

Fast tube changes get you back on trail without waiting for support.

Essential

Trail shoes with grippy soles

Better pedal contact and walkability on rocky trail sections and lake shoreline.
