You arrive where the river narrows and the forest presses close, the current daring you forward as sunlight slices through fern fronds. The path drops quickly into a gorge; the first cliff jump into a turquoise pool is an instant test of nerves and buoyancy. As you swim toward the cave mouth, water smooths the rock and the cave’s cool breath answers the island heat.

Plan for roughly 6–8 hours from pickup to drop-off depending on group size and trail conditions.
Guides offer alternatives for participants uncomfortable with jumps; however, swimming through cave pools is an integral part of the route.
No formal caving experience is required, but participants should be comfortable in confined, wet spaces and able to swim.
Moderate to above-moderate fitness: you should handle steep trails, wet scrambling, and multiple short swims over several hours.
The northern karst region was inhabited by Taíno communities; local rock shelters and occasional petroglyphs reflect pre-Columbian use of river corridors.
Visitors are asked to avoid touching rock art, pack out all trash, and stick to paths—karst ecosystems are sensitive to erosion and contamination.
