The Rebellion Barn is the most recent addition to our historic village. In 2017, the flea market that was currently housed in the venue was purchased by The Bright Foundation. This property was then gifted to Millard's Crossing. The addition of this venue has doubled our footprint at the village and we are thrilled to be accepting reservations for The Rebellion Barn!
The original structure was built around the 1950s. This is a relatively new building compared to the others found at Millard's Crossing. As we began renovations, hidden treasures were found within this barn. The original hardwood floors had been covered and are now a beautiful feature of the venue. Another clue to the history of the structure was a large chamber found underneath the barn. This may have been an elevator pit for grain, or simply a storage vessel.
This newly renovated venue is both heated and cooled and has a fully functioning kitchen. The Rebellion Barn can seat about 150 guests at one time with overflow seating on the large wrap around porch. Tables and Chairs must be rented for this space. Please see our Rental Price Sheet for more information. Linens are not included but may be rented at University Rental.
The white wooden chapel was built by a Free Methodist congregation and used at its original location into the 1950s. The quaint chapel is currently available as a rental facility for weddings or other special events.
This church, which stood on the corner of Townsend Street and South Fredonia (Highway 7) one block west of South Street, was established in 1905 according to the Deed Records of Nacogdoches County. Free Methodists were an independent lot who did not agree with all the Methodist doctrines or practices – particularly that of charging a fee for use of a pew. The church disbanded sometime after WWII as membership dwindled and gas rationing made travel prohibitive for the circuit preachers that serviced the congregation. This church did not have a steeple until it was moved to Millard’s Crossing because a bell was a luxury many small congregations could not afford.
This charming turn-of-the century chapel with seating for 75 to 100 people. The building is both heated and cooled, has a working antique pump organ, piano, and chapel bell. You decorate, candles are permitted.
Please, no food or drink in the Chapel.
Tables, chairs, and linens are not included with the venue rental and must be sourced separately to ensure the event runs smoothly.
Schedule a tour of both the Rebellion Barn and Chapel to visualize space and layout options for your gathering.
Maintain the historic features by adhering to policies like no food or drink inside the Chapel and using only dripless candles.
Though indoor spaces are climate controlled, consider guest comfort for outdoor porch areas, especially in spring and summer months.
The Chapel was originally built by a Free Methodist congregation circa 1905, reflecting local religious heritage before it was relocated to Millard's Crossing after WWII.
