Champagne’s sparkling wine evolved from 17th–19th century advances in glass, corking and bottling; towns like Reims and Épernay became centers for commerce and cellaring.
Vineyard management increasingly uses cover crops and reduced pesticide regimes to protect soil and pollinators; stick to designated tracks to prevent erosion.
