For your comfort, the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad recommends that you consider the following when planning your trip:
COACHES ARE NOT HEATED.
The open-air gondola offers spectacular views—keep your camera ready for wildlife and landscapes.
Mountain weather can change quickly, so wearing layers will keep you comfortable throughout the ride.
Check in early to secure your preferred seating and have time to explore the train station.
Though snacks are provided, consider bringing additional refreshments if you have dietary preferences.
The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is one of the last narrow-gauge railways in the U.S., dating back to 1880, preserving the legacy of western railroading.
The railroad operates with a strong focus on preserving the historic landscape and minimizing environmental impacts through responsible tourism practices.
Allows you to adjust comfort with changing mountain weather conditions.
Helps spot distant wildlife and details in the landscape from the train.
Ideal for capturing stunning views and memorable moments.
Staying hydrated is key, especially during warmer months.
