The ride begins on the cobbled approaches of Cetinje, the old royal capital, where cool mountain air and pine-scented lanes push you out of town and upward. Pedaling through Bajice and Dubovik, the road opens to Bukovica’s terraces—here a wooden table and a plate of Njeguški prosciutto and cheese anchor a mid-ride pause that tastes of local craft and mountain salt.

Cetinje served as Montenegro’s royal capital and Njeguši is the birthplace of poet-prince Petar II Petrović Njegoš; the Lovćen road was completed in 1884, linking highlands to the coast.
Lovćen is protected as a national park—stay on permitted roads, pack out waste, and avoid disturbing nesting birds and traditional drying racks in villages.
