Celebrate New Year Aboard the Island Princess: Annapolis Harbor NYE Cruise

Read the full experience

On the night New Year arrives, the Island Princess pushes off from 680 Americana Dr, Dock C in Annapolis, Maryland, and gives passengers a waterfront vantage of a city that wears its maritime history openly. The three-hour New Year’s Eve Cruise runs from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., with boarding beginning at 9:30 p.m., and mixes live music, dancing, light hors d’oeuvres, mini desserts, and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. Adults 21 and over will appreciate the social, grown-up atmosphere while the boat moves through Annapolis Harbor and the connected tidal channels that define the Chesapeake Bay shoreline. You’ll glide past Ego Alley and the clusters of historic brick facades that line Prince George Street, while gulls and wintering waterfowl cut silhouettes against the harbor lights. The low winter sky and the reflective bay surface make for dramatic night photography and an especially theatrical backdrop for the midnight countdown. What sets this experience apart is its local intimacy: rather than fireworks over an anonymous skyline, you’re on deck among a few hundred people sharing a single vantage point, with champagne raised and music setting the pace. The cruise includes hors d’oeuvres and a glass of Champagne; guests may also bring their own alcoholic beverages. The operator notes no cancellations, so plan accordingly. Practical details matter: the ship departs from 680 Americana Dr, Dock C, in Annapolis; arrive early to check in and clear boarding. Dress warmly - winter on the Chesapeake is damp and wind-driven - and choose non-slip shoes for the gangway. If you’re staying in town, Annapolis has compact downtown lodging and taxi or rideshare options that make returning to a hotel simple after the 1 a.m. return. This outing fits travelers who want a festive, low-effort celebration with local flavor and a maritime setting. It’s not a sightseeing cruise by daylight standards, but it offers a memorable nightcap to a visit to Annapolis, a city founded in the 17th century and home to the United States Naval Academy since 1845. For visitors who value easy logistics, a lively crowd, and a clear view of Annapolis by water, the Island Princess New Year’s Eve Cruise is an elegant, salt-air way to start the year. Plan to bring a government-issued ID and your reservation confirmation to speed boarding. Because the cruise is adults-only, parties often book a nearby inn or waterfront hotel in downtown Annapolis to walk to Dock C; Eastport neighborhoods offer quieter post-midnight routes. If you prefer to avoid cold decks, book an indoor table early—the Island Princess has indoor seating but prime views are on deck. Finally, pack a small thermos or hand warmers, and consider using a rideshare to avoid searching for late-night parking after the return. Cheers.
