Shipwreck Adventure
Dive into adventure at The Carthaginian, a captivating wreck site off Lahaina's coast. Explore vibrant marine life, including frogfish, turtles, and even the chance to see an Atlantis submarine. With top-notch gear and delicious snacks provided, this unique diving experience promises unforgettable underwater memories for certified divers.
**The Carthaginian is one of our favorite sites to explore. It sits at a max depth of 97 feet on a sandy seabed 1/2 mile off the coast of Lahaina. Normally only seen by the Atlantis submarine, The Carth is a fantastic site for those looking for a fun wreck to explore. Frogfish can be found on the wreck, so keep a sharp eye out. Trumpet fish, sergeant major, orange spine unicorn-fish, rainbow cleaner wrasse and other small fish can be seen swimming about the ship. It is also possible to see turtles, sharks and eagle rays on this site. If we are lucky and time it right we can actually get to dive with the Atlantis submarine. There is usually a small current on the site, and it is about a 45 minute ride from the Kihei Boat Ramp so we don't go there on a daily basis. But if you request it upon booking we may choose to dive it that day. For a full history on the wreck click below.
You've got to be a certified diver and you must have a minimum of 15 logged dives. **
The Carthaginian sits in about 96 feet of water. Since we will be diving a "square profile," this dive is ideal for enriched air use if you are nitrox certified. Both sites are an excellent choice for photographers where frogfish and rays are frequently seen. When the timing is right, divers might even get to be on display themselves when the Atlantis Submarine cruises by!
During your trip, we provide a nice assortment of delicious snacks, fruits, and beverages to make your trip highly enjoyable.
We have you covered! We can provide you with Premium BCD's, Regulators, and Wetsuits. (Mask and fins are always included in the base price), remember to please specify your needs!
Certified divers must have recent dive experience within the last 2 years. If it has been more than 2 years since your last dive, we require you to take a refresher prior to your trip with us. We can provide one from our other company Maui Dreams Dive Company. Go back to the main page and click on the Maui Dreams logo.
Though this is a site-specific trip, Mother Nature is the ultimate boss of what we do. Should we find ourselves in conditions that do not allow us to safely dive one or both of these spots, we will find an alternate site or two and take it from there. We will not issue refunds if, due to weather conditions, we do not dive at this site.
"Safe and Fun, in that order!" That is our motto. If we can't do both we aren't doing it. If for whatever reason conditions are so bad that the captain decides to "call off the day" we will happily reschedule you for another day, or offer you a full refund.
Certified divers must have at least 15 logged dives and recent diving experience within two years to join this trip.
