About This Adventure

Dive into adventure with the Carthaginian II, a historic wreck now home to vibrant marine life. Experience a thrilling descent to this iconic site, followed by a scenic exploration of West Maui's colorful reefs. Perfect for certified divers, this unique journey promises unforgettable underwater photography and encounters with fascinating sea creatures.

Once a floating museum in Lahaina Harbor, the Carthaginian II now rests in about 100 feet of water just outside Lahaina—making it one of Maui’s most iconic wreck dives. This deep dive offers a dramatic descent onto a steel-hulled sailing vessel, now an artificial reef teeming with marine life. Our second dive takes place along the scenic West Maui coastline, where shallower reefs offer a colorful contrast to the wreck site..

Time and Duration

  • Check in is at 6:15 in the morning and we return to the harbor between noon and 1:00.
  • 6 Hours (approx.)

Prerequisites:

You've got to be a certified diver to enjoy this wreck as it sits in 96 feet of water and you must have a minimum of 25 logged dives. **

IMPORTANT NOTE: If it has been over two years since your last dive, Maui Diamond requires that you complete a refresher dive prior to your boat trip or hire a private dive guide for your dives.

What to Expect:

The Carthaginian sits in about 96 feet of water. Since we will be diving a "square profile," this dive is ideal for enriched air use if you are nitrox certified. Both sites are an excellent choice for photographers where frogfish and rays are frequently seen.

Do you need rental gear? No problem! We can provide you with a BCD and regulator (and whatever else you may need) for just $30.

DIVER MEDICAL FORM REQUIRED: All certified divers are required to complete a medical history form and some will be required to obtain their physician's release to participate in scuba diving. Here's a link to the form for easy reference and in case it's needed for a doctor visit. Divers who are required to obtain a medical release to dive and who show up without one will be welcomed aboard as passengers but will not be able to dive and will not be refunded. We'd rather get to take you diving, so please get this done!

The Small Print:

Though this is a site-specific trip, Mother Nature is the ultimate boss of what we do. Should we find ourselves in conditions that do not allow us to safely dive one or both of these spots, we will find an alternate site or two and take it from there. We will not issue refunds if, due to weather conditions, we do not dive at this site.
