The day begins outside Page, Arizona — a small morning sun painting the pavement by the Walmart pick-up point while the van hums toward the red-rock edge of the Navajo Nation. Step out at Canyon X and the canyon narrows around you like a living corridor: light slices the sandstone, warming purples into amber as wind and water seem to breathe through the walls.

The round-trip walk to the Horseshoe Bend overlook is about 1.5 miles on mostly exposed desert trail and takes roughly 30–45 minutes depending on pace.
The Canyon X portion is mostly walking on sandy footing with some narrow sections and short steps; people should have moderate mobility and avoid if they have serious back or heart conditions.
