Dawn finds the boat slid out of Parque Nacional Marino Ballena with the surf nudging the hull and the coast shrinking behind you. Sea spray cools your face while the captain points toward a low, rocky island that rises from the Pacific like a knuckle of dark stone — Caño Island — surrounded by water that goes from steel gray to brilliant blue.
