Candle Making and Craft Beer at Meyers Brewing: 90-Min Workshop on Girard Ave

Crafted Scents and Brews at Meyers Brewing brings hands-on candle making to Philadelphia's lively Girard Avenue corridor. Located at 436 E Girard Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19125, USA, this ninety-minute workshop pairs guided scent selection and pouring with the laid-back energy of a working brewpub. Arrive ready to build an eight-ounce candle with a cotton wick and classic glass container, choose two fragrance notes, and watch hot wax cool into something you will want to bring home. The experience centers on simple craft skills: measuring, scent blending, and careful pouring, so anyone with steady hands can make a polished candle in a single session. The workshop includes all materials for the candle-making process; add-ons are optional. Beer and food are available for purchase at Meyers Brewing, and the listing notes a two-drink minimum, making this as much a social evening as a craft class. For check-in or questions call 267-689-8973 or email [email protected]. Note the meeting point listed as 3314 Kensington Ave if directions differ. What makes this offering stand out in Philadelphia's lively craft scene is the collision of two local industries: small-batch brewing and artisanal scent work. Instead of an antiseptic studio, you will pour wax against the backdrop of amber-tinted taproom light and clinking pint glasses. Key features include the bar-side workstations, the 8oz classic glass vessels, and the scent bar where two fragrance scents are blended to create a custom profile. There is an urban, hands-on energy here that differs from a museum workshop or a commercial candle factory. This is a twenty-one-plus activity priced at $40 and designed for small groups or solitary makers seeking a social craft night. It is a low-impact, low-skill creative outing that makes an excellent date night, friend gathering, or quiet solo treat. Practical notes: cancellations can be rescheduled with 24 hours notice; be prepared to purchase drinks if you plan to linger; bring a reusable tote for your finished candle. In a city where breweries double as community rooms, Crafted Scents and Brews offers a tactile, smell-first way to slow down. You will leave with a finished candle, a better sense of scent layering, and the kind of small local memory that tastes like good beer and lavender. Workshops run about ninety minutes and are paced for beginners, but stronger candle knowledge is welcome; if you have preferred fragrance ideas bring them, as the instructor will help translate notes into a balanced blend. Plan to arrive a few minutes early to settle in, wear clothes that can tolerate a little wax splash, and expect a relaxed crowd of locals, visitors, friends, and couples. Book early on weekends; slots fill fast and this workshop makes a thoughtful, locally made gift indeed.
