Bunny Hops: Take Adorable Bunny Walks in Portsmouth, RI

Bunny Hops is a short, sweet farm experience in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, where kids ages five and up take harnessed bunnies for a supervised stroll across the property's lawn and garden. The meeting point is 160 Bristol Ferry Rd, Portsmouth, RI 02871, where staff fit each rabbit with a soft pet harness and clip on a lightweight leash, then guide families onto the lawn and through the flower beds for a gentle 20‑minute hop. Operator information is not provided. This activity is a low‑stress way to introduce young children to animal care and outdoor play. The setting centers on cultivated lawn and garden areas rather than wild landscape; visitors should expect trimmed turf, domestic perennials, garden beds, and shaded paths. Key features include the harnessed rabbits themselves, a family‑friendly layout with room for up to five guests per booking, and a short route designed for small legs and short attention spans. The program’s biggest draw is the hands‑on, close contact with calm rabbits in a controlled outdoor environment. Visitors may notice common New England garden plants and pollinators at work; the site’s groomed green spaces make it easy to observe small wildlife like bees and songbirds. The experience is especially suited to parents seeking a tactile, animal‑focused activity that’s brief and predictable — ideal for nap schedules and young attention spans. Practicalities are simple: the session runs about 20 minutes, check‑in is at the listed meeting point, and parents are encouraged to participate alongside children. Safety and animal welfare are front and center. Rabbits are restrained in soft harnesses for their comfort and the handlers will coach guests on gentle handling — this is not a free‑roam petting area. The experience supports respect for animals and teaches calm movements, quiet voices, and how to read a rabbit’s body language. Groups are intentionally small to reduce stress on the animals. If you’re planning a visit, pair Bunny Hops with a slower day in Portsmouth: explore nearby waterfront parks and family‑friendly attractions, then return for a relaxed afternoon snack. This is a low‑impact experience that’s easy to add to a New England weekend itinerary and popular with multi‑generational groups. Why it stands out: Bunny Hops converts a common childhood wish — to walk a pet rabbit — into a carefully managed, memorable outing that fits neatly into a family travel day in coastal Rhode Island. Bookings are limited to small groups — up to five people — so reserve the 20‑minute slot early during weekends and holidays; arrive a few minutes before your scheduled check‑in, wear closed‑toe shoes for museum‑style walking on grass, and bring wet‑wipes for sticky fingers after petting; the experience is low‑cost and geared toward younger children and parents.
