With easy access to the ocean via the Wild and Scenic Chetco river mouth, Brookings offers a variety of experiences ranging from frequent Pelican and seal sightings to neat coves as well as a wide range of ocean plant life at Chetco Point. Late spring to summer we can sample various seaweeds on this paddle. The boat basin offers easy calm waters where you can view the many different commercial fishing boats and pleasure craft moored up to the docks. Total ocean paddling distance is about 3.3 miles for the 2 hour tour, but can be longer when the weather is calm enough to explore to the north of Chetco Point. We will be wearing wetsuits on this tour. Taller people above 6'4" can sometimes feel that the sit inside kayaks are a bit cramped. There is a weight limit of 250# for the single kayaks and 500# for tandems. Larger people may not want to do this tour and might consider our boat tours.
