You step off London Bridge and the market pulls you forward: voices trade across stalls, steam hovers over frying pans, and the cobbles click under purposeful feet. The guide threads you through narrow alleys between produce displays and charcuterie counters, pausing where the smells sharpen—fried fish, warm pastry, sharp cheese—so you can taste why this place still draws Londoners.

Borough Market traces market activity at this riverside site back over a thousand years and became a formalized wholesale and retail market through Victorian redevelopment.
Many stallholders emphasize local sourcing and low-waste packaging; bring a reusable bag and compostable-waste awareness helps reduce the market’s footprint.
