You meet your guide at the port as the ferry exhaust fades and the citadel clings to a limestone promontory above an intense Mediterranean blue. The city rises in tight lanes and sudden viewpoints—white cliffs, narrow alleys, and the sharp drop where the King of Aragon’s staircase cuts into the rock.

4 hours.
Moderate fitness: comfortable walking ability and stair climbing required
The tour covers cobbled streets and includes descending and ascending 187 steps at the King of Aragon staircase; expect several uphill sections and short cliffside paths.
Participants should have a moderate level of fitness; children and older visitors who can manage stairs and uneven ground can join but should move at a comfortable pace.
Entry to the Bastion de l’Etendard and the King of Aragon staircase are included, and your private guide handles admissions.
The guide meets and drops off at the port of Bonifacio, convenient for cruise passengers and walkers arriving by ferry.
Bonifacio’s citadel has Genoese and Aragonese layers; its strategic position made it a contested Mediterranean port since the Middle Ages.
Stay on marked paths to protect fragile limestone formations and seabird nesting areas; local regulations limit disturbance of coastal habitats and offshore marine reserves.
