You step out of an air-conditioned combi and the island opens: a wide stretch of white sand that moves under wind like a living thing, a string of low houses in Sal-Rei, and cliffs where waves cut caves into volcanic rock. The day unfolds as a practical loop — pottery and villages, the Viana sand sea, broad beaches and the raw coastline of Varandinha — each stop offering a different pulse of Boa Vista.
