About

This has been done for many years from the Mediterranean, Ireland and USA now they are off our coastline in good numbers.

In the past 12 years we have been visited buy these big game fish and over the past 6 years we have been lucky enough to have caught and released over 360 fish up to 800lb. There have been Blue Fin Tuna caught in the local waters between Brixham and Penzance, with most of them halfway between Mevagissey and Falmouth.

Aquila is one of the first Uk’s licensed charter boats. Catching, tagging and releasing for science since the return of Bluefin in the UKs waters.

Aquila was selected to be the tagging boat for the Thunnas programme in 2018. Then selected again to allow us to legally Catch, Tag and release Bluefin with anglers for the CHART programme. This is a great privilege and we extend this to you as an angler by offering you chance to charter us.

More info

A maximum of 4 anglers due to the nature of the fishing.

Marys Pasty lunch may be provided. Call to book.

I have invested heavily in new gear to catch these fish and maximise your chances of catching you fish of a life time here in the UK.

Please remember that if you are lucky enough to catch one of these beautiful giants it is not be possible to boat the fish. all fish will be measured at the side of the boat giving you chance to get your photo taken with it. We will then recover the fish by towing it alongside the boat until its ready and strong enough to swim off.

What to bring

If you own or can borrow a floatation suit we advise you to wear it. If this is not possible you will need to wear plenty of warm clothing and a set of waterproofs. please remember that even in the summer it is colder out at sea. Also a hat would be advisable as you lose 80% of your body heat through your head.

Adventure Tips

Limit group size for better fishing

Trips accommodate up to four anglers to maximize space and effectiveness when trolling for Bluefin Tuna.

Dress in layered waterproofs

Even summer days can be chilly offshore; waterproof and insulated clothing helps maintain comfort.

Bring a hat and sun protection

Protect yourself from sun exposure even in cooler months since heat loss through the head is significant at sea.

Prepare for long hours on the water

This 12-hour trip demands stamina and patience; bring snacks and water to stay fueled and hydrated.
