The Blue Mountains were developed for coffee cultivation in the 18th and 19th centuries; many terraces and stone boundaries date to colonial-era farms that still produce specialty beans.
This region supports endemic species and fragile soils—stay on designated routes, avoid littering, and respect private agricultural land to limit erosion and disturbance.
