Showcasing Northwest New Mexico's Legacy

The Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness is located in the San Juan Basin in Northwest New Mexico. The area offers stunning rock formations made of sandstone, shale, coal, and silt. These rock formations become sculpted through extensive weathering and have names like Egg Hatchery, Stone Wings, Pedestals, Manta Ray, and more! Meet us here, and let's set out on a hike of up to 5 miles to explore all the highlights.

Fill your gas tank full. Weather conditions may vary and could impact our hiking route. There is spotty cellular phone coverage throughout the area. You will be hiking around 1,760 meters (5,771 feet) in elevation with 20 meters (65 feet) elevation gain. You must leave rock engravings, historical sites, and historical items where they were found. Let's practice Leave-No-Trace hiking, and pack out what we pack in.
