Underground Gold Mine Tours last about 45 minutes - 1 hour. Gold Panning lessons take about 10 - 15 minutes. Then, pan for gold as long as you would like while we're open! Groups also can also reserve our picnic pavilion for minimum of 1 hour during their visit.
With less than 500 feet of walking distance and no stairs, each guided tour is given by one of our knowledgeable and entertaining guides. Discover our wide, well-lit, underground openings and see two gold veins! Learn about Colorado's history. Uncover the adventures of prospectors and miners. See the historic mining and milling processes used to extract the gold from the rock.
After your gold mine tour, learn how to pan for gold and have a go at it yourself! We provide gold panning lessons with our experienced staff and loan each guest a gold pan to use. During warm weather months, pan for gold in a real, gently flowing mountain creek! Many have found pieces of glimmering gold and gems. During cold weather, pan for gold underground in our gold panning tank. Many have found gold and other gems in both settings. Most importantly, keep what you find!

A light jacket or sweatshirt and closed-toed shoes are recommended as the mine is typically 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, bring water shoes if you want to go into the creek to gold pan. Standing on the side of the creek is fine too!
Party and Group Tour availabilities are at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM or 2:00 PM (If these times cannot accommodate your group, please contact us to make arrangements.)
Our covered picnic area is located next to the panning area. There are 2 large tables. It can be reserved for groups upon your request.

The Phoenix Gold Mine operates as a service in the state of Colorado; therefore, tour tickets are not subject to sales tax. However, parties purchasing tickets should be aware that credit card processing fees and service fees associated with the reservation system, FareHarbor, will be categorized under "taxes" when calculating the total fee amount.
