Experience the enchanting glow of bioluminescence on a paddleboard adventure during warm evenings in spring, summer, or fall. Witness the magical light displays created by marine life and plankton in local waters. This unforgettable journey is perfect for all skill levels, making it an accessible and mesmerizing outdoor experience.

Feel awe and wonder as you experience the magic of bioluminescence during a warm spring, summer or fall evening paddle!

Bioluminescence is a light producing chemical reaction occurring within living organisms including fireflies, jellyfish, marine and more!

Ideal conditions occur in our local waters in the spring, summer and early fall when plankton concentrations increase and create magical displays of bioluminescent waters.

Bioluminescence SUP Adventures are super popular so plan ahead and book early! This adventure is suitable for all fitness and skill levels even beginner paddle boarders!


Information to help you plan for your Bioluminescence experience

Price

$89 - $149 depending on duration of the tour. Usually 2 hours starting at dusk. Some tours are 2.5 hours and may include fireworks (Saturdays in July and August). Some tours are 3 hours and may include sunset and/or fireworks.

Location

Brentwood Bay 819 Verdier Ave. (near the famous Butchart Gardens) Need a lift out and back from Downtown Victoria? We often have room for up to 4 people in our SUP Van. Just give us a call to request a lift.

2 to 3 hours depending on time of year


What to Bring

  • Wear clothing suitable for the weather conditions and water activity (layers are a good idea, avoid cotton).

  • Drysuits, boots & gloves can be added to your booking for an additional fee. Drysuits are not usually needed from May to September depending on weather and your own personal comfort level.

  • Bring a towel, change of clothes (just in case and particularly if you plan to go in the water).

  • Use a strap for your prescription glasses or sunglasses (available for rent or purchase).

  • Leave your electronic keys, phone, etc. on shore or place in a dry bag (available for rent or purchase).

  • Water/warm beverage (tea) and snack.

  • Sense of awe and wonder :>)

Evening temperatures can drop quickly; layering your clothing ensures comfort while paddling.

Waterproof jackets or dry bags help keep your belongings safe during the paddle.
