-A note on moonphase. (TLDR: if we offer a biolume trip when the moon is rather full its because its a late moonrise, and it will still be dark.) Lately we have increasingly had a lot of questions & some concern about when we offer bioluminescence night tours when the moon is rather full. Doesn't the moonlight inhibit bioluminescence viewing? The answer is that on those nights when we offer the tour & the moon is rather full, it is because there is a moon rise later than the end of our tour. And because of the hills on either side of the harbor, we aren't actually effected by moonlight on our tour until some while after the moon has risen. So the moon can be completely full, but if the moon is on the other side of the earth when we are out on the water, it is effectively a new moon. Overall we have our own method for predicting good bioluminescence viewing that we developed independently and involves evaluating several different factors and we essentially view as a trade secret. We have had 100% success since 2020 & over 98.8% since 2017, you can check our reviews and won't find anyone complaining of not seeing good bioluminescence. We are not aware of any guide posted online for finding bioluminescence that is equivalent to the methodology that we use.
