Embark on a breathtaking 5-hour adventure through Killarney's historic lakes and the stunning Gap of Dunloe. Enjoy a scenic boat ride to Lord Brandon's Cottage, followed by a self-guided cycling journey through picturesque hills. Conclude your trip with traditional food at Kate Kearney's Cottage, creating unforgettable memories.

Your trip

  • Bike rental is not included in the cost of the tour.
  • You will receive details on where to rent a bikes or e-bikes for the tour in the confirmation email.

Please note this trip can also be done in reverse

  • The boat departs at Reen Pier* near Ross Castle and takes you to Lord Brandons Cottage along with your bike (1 hour 30 minutes)

  • Open roof boat with cover if needed

  • Self Guided cycle (you can’t get lost)

  • It is 7 miles (12km) in length which takes approximately 1 hour & 30 minutes to cycle

  • The terrain is hilly and picturesque.

  • The highest elevation is 840ft

  • The Gap cycle ends at Kate Kearneys Cottage (Great place for some traditional food and drinks)

  • From Kate Kearney's Cottage to KIllarney town centre is approximately 12km, but you can enter Killarney National park after 7 km after the Hotel Europe gate.

  • If you wish, feel free to bring your own picnic lunch

  • *If you choose to do the tour in reserve you will start your journey at Kate Kearney's Cottage in the Gap of Dunloe (Eircode: V93 AWR8). The boat will depart from Lord Brandon's Cottage at 2 pm and you will return to Reen Pier near Ross Castle at 3:30 pm

Weather conditions:

  • Sometimes the tour is done is reverse to suit weather conditions
  • If the water level is low, please be careful as the short walk from the boat to path can be tricky.

Please wear comfortable footwear and bring a rain jacket and/or sunblock, you will need one or the other or both!
