Types of Bike Rentals Available

• Beach Cruiser Easy to get on and off of, this bike offers a step-through design and a comfortable ride.

• E-Bike: Our top-of-the-line E-bikes have more than 50 miles of range on one battery and multi-modal peddle assist functions. They are designed for a smooth and easy ride and are very accessible.

Excelsior Beach Rental Availability

Bike rentals are available every day except Monday and Tuesday from May through mid-September.

We support the Three Rivers Parks District and our Local YMCA with discounted equipment rentals.

We carry all of the required licenses, permits, and insurance to provide rentals and classes at Lake Minnetonka.

No single-use items are provided (water bottles etc.) and all of our e-bikes are charged using 100% solar energy!

🧳 What to Bring (suggested list)

• Bike shorts and/or gloves for extra comfort on longer rides
• Sunglasses

• Sun protection: Sunglasses, sunscreen, and/or spf shirts
• Light jacket or windbreaker: (Depending on the weather), you might want to bring a light jacket or windbreaker, especially if biking in the early morning or evening when it may be cooler.

• 24-hour notice: SUP & Kayak Rental Participants will receive a full refund provided a 24 hour notice of cancellation is given.
• Weather: A full refund is provided In the event of cautious wind/weather (as determined at the sole discretion of the Wai Nani Surf & Paddle team.) Please allow for a window of 7-10 business days for the refund to process. No-shows will be charged the full price. Please contact us at 877.WAI.NANI with any cancellation questions or concerns.

🌧️Weather policy

• A light shower can be refreshing and over in 5 minutes. But, if more substantial rain is anticipated, we will reschedule at a more convenient time. Additionally, if we believe the day’s weather or water conditions to be hazardous, we reserve the right to reschedule.

• Wai Nani Surf & Paddle will contact renters/class participants a minimum of 1-hour prior to their reservation.

• Please provide both email and cell phone numbers at the time of your reservation.

• Full refunds will be given for any beach or operational closure as determined at the sole discretion of the Wai Nani Surf & Paddle team.

Safety First! Conditions, especially high off-shore wind, can be extremely deceptive for those new to paddleboarding. Wai Nani Surf & Paddle reserves the right to close operations in the event of cautious wind (10+ mph) and weather.

FAQ

What happens in case of bad weather or unfavorable weather conditions? Safety First! Wai Nani Surf & Paddle will contact renters/class participants a minimum of 1-hour prior to their reservation in the event of a wind/weather cancellation (as determined at the sole discretion of the Wai Nani Surf & Paddle team.) Full refunds will be given for any Wai Nani Surf & Paddle beach closure.

Can I leave my personal belongings behind? Yes, you can. We have storage cubbies that are available for you to store your belongings in. They’re not lockers but our staff is present at the desk.

Are there any restroom facilities available on-site? We are located at a public park which has free restrooms

Am I required to wear my helmet during the bike rental? You are required to wear a helmet with the rental bikes.

Are locks provided for the bikes? Bike locks are provided with each bike rental.

Do I need to make a bike rental reservation in advance? We highly recommend a reservation to guarantee availability, but we do offer walk-up rentals as well.

Are helmets provided or should I bring my own? High-quality MIPS helmets are provided with each bike rental.

What happens if the bike gets damaged during my rental period? Call us at 877.WAI.NANI and we’ll provide assistance based on your needs.

Can I rent additional equipment, such as baskets or child seats? No, we just rent the bikes.

Do you have bike trailers available to rent for kids? No, we just offer the rental bikes.

I have a bike trailer, can I bring it and attach it to the rental bike? Unfortunately, we do not allow bike trailers to be attached to our rental bikes.

Can I extend my rental period if I decide to keep the bike longer? Yes, you can extend your rental as long as we have availability. You can extend your bike rental by calling us first to check availability

Do you have different saddle options? We just have the saddles that come on the rental bikes.

⚡️Electric biking FAQs

How long does a charge last on the electric bike rentals? It depends. From 3-4 hours depending on the effort of the biker.

Is there an age requirement for renting an electric bike? The rider must be 15 with a parent/guardian signature if taking the bike out by themselves. Minimum age of 12 years old if accompanied by parent / guardian.

Are there any restrictions on where I can ride the electric bike? Follow street traffic rules.

Do I need a special license or training to rent an e-bike? No.

Are there any height requirements for riding an e-bike? We recommend a minimum height of 5 ft but please contact us in advance if you have questions about bike fit.

I’ve never ridden an electric bike, do I need instruction? Our staff will provide a brief tutorial on how to engage and use the pedal assist functionality.

General Bike Rental FAQs

What is the minimum age requirement for participants? Due to safety concerns, classes and rentals at Excelsior Beach are for individuals age 12+ only

Are there any weight restrictions for participants? The weight limit for the bikes is 275 lbs., but please contact us if you have questions.

Age Activity Notice

Due to safety concerns, Rentals, as well as Clinics/Classes, are for individuals age 12+ only (age 12-15 must be accompanied on by a parent or adult guardian.) Sorry, no riders allowed while renting, including pets.

Renters under age 18 must have a parent or legal guardian’s signature on the required waiver form.

Everything you need, we provide. Helmets are required and included with your rental! Just bring your smile and a sense of adventure!

Wai Nani Surf & Paddle only uses the best, most enjoyable rental bikes around. Our brand-new rental fleet is made up of top-of-the-line Comfort Bikes. To ensure the utmost safety of our guests, participants MUST be in good physical condition to independently bike.
