About

Berlin has been Divided, then United and now changed between 1961-1990. Get an overview of Germany's capital city and its recent Cold War history and along the way you will see many symbols and remnants from the past. The tour will take you on a journey along the former border, offering you an interesting insight into Berlin's history in the years 1961-1990, how the wall influenced life in Berlin before and after the its fall.

Some of the sites you will see include:

Berlin Wall Memorial Built in 1998 to commemorate the end of division. One of the he last pieces of Berlin Wall stands on Bernauer Straße - the icon of the Wall Fall on 11th November 1989 - in the former French sector of West Berlin.

East Side Gallery Located on Mühlenstraße in the district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. It is a real open-air gallery painted on the Berlin Wall in 1990 and it is now known worldwide as a symbol of freedom.

Checkpoint Charlie The famous check point between East and West Berlin. Built to restrict westward emigration across the border, it is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Berlin.

While cycling through the neighbourhoods you will also experience how Berlin has changed, re-developed and re-imagined itself since the reunification.

The terrain in and around Berlin is typically flat, so the cycling itself is mostly easy and Berlin is blessed with many biking lanes. This means most fitness levels are able to join.

No restrictions in fitness level. If you are pregnant, you should be cleared for normal activity by a doctor.
