- In Pennsylvania, you are required to have a boating safety education certificate if you were born on or after January 1, 1982 in order to operate our pontoons. Renters are required to have the boating safety education certificate prior to the time of their rental. It can be done entirely online. The details as well as the link to obtain your certificate will be included in your confirmation email.
