Join our 4-lesson Beginner Sewing Course at the Sewing Café and discover the joy of sewing! Under the expert guidance of fashion designer Andrea, you'll create a tote bag and your choice of garment, all while learning essential skills. Enjoy flexible scheduling and leave with two finished products!

Never touched a sewing machine yet? Don’t know what to start with? Sign up for our 4-lesson Beginner Sewing Course in our Sewing Café! And.. you can start and follow the course whenever you’d like!
In this course you will learn all the basics you need to know on the sewing machine. In the first 1/1,5 lesson(s) you will make your first tote bag. After this we will start with your first garment and create your own skirt, t-shirt or (flared) legging!* You can choose between two types of skirts (wrap skirt or circle skirt), an easy to make basic tee (crop or longer, you can choose the length) or a flared/normal legging from the pattern collection of De Steek.
Follow this 4-lesson course in the Sewing Cafe on the days/times of your preference. The course is 2 hours per lesson. Guidance is provided by professional fashion designer Andrea. Classes are both in Dutch and English. You can start in the week of your wishes. This course takes place in Amsterdam De Pijp.
••You can add the materials you will need or bring your own in this course. If you choose the materials included, you will get the organic materials to make your own tote bag and/or skirt/t-shirt/legging. For the clothing items you can choose the fabric yourself in our store.••
With the tote bag you can choose different colors of canvas fabric (organic cotton) and straps (hemp). If you choose to follow the course without materials, you will get a list by e-mail with everything you need to bring.
It is still possible to buy the materials in our store during the classes as well.

You are paying for the complete course upon completing your booking. You are also choosing the day and time you will be doing the first lesson. On your email confirmation you will receive a code in which you can use to book online the remaining of your 3 lessons included in this course. Alternatively, you can let us know when you want to follow the second, third and fourth lesson and we’ll plan it flexibly in for you

It is possible to join this course as a complete beginner or if you have a little bit experience and want to freshen up your skills.
This class takes place in our studio in Amsterdam De Pijp: Eerste Jacob van Campenstraat 40 in Amsterdam.
Please note that for the remainder of February classes will be in our East location at Christiaan de Wetstraat 114 in Amsterdam.
Classes in our new location in De Pijp will only take place from 01 March.
Class sizes are limited to ensure personal guidance, so book ahead to secure your preferred schedule.
Wear clothes you don’t mind moving freely in, as you’ll sit and work with fabric and machines for periods.
Choose to include organic materials upfront to avoid sourcing fabric yourself and simplify your arrival.
Give yourself time to get acquainted with the studio and settle before lessons begin for a focused session.

De Steek promotes sustainable fashion through organic materials and encourages responsible fabric sourcing in Amsterdam's urban setting.
