The rim opens like a dark mouth beneath a blue Veracruz sky: guides check ropes, the group leans into a cool draft that smells faintly of river and wet rock. Swifts and swallows wheel above as the first rappel drops toward a ledge inside a 45‑meter diameter pit; beyond that the route continues down an 80‑meter vertical shaft to an underground lagoon fed by the Coatl River and a 60‑meter subterranean waterfall.

Participants should have high aerobic fitness, leg strength for sustained hiking with packs, and the ability to handle exposure on vertical rope systems.
The outing is physically demanding: expect a steep approach with a loaded pack, two days of activity, and participation in technical rope work—good cardiovascular fitness and leg strength are required.
No prior caving experience is required; the program includes an introductory rope and caving course, but comfort with exposure and following technical instruction is essential.
Guides provide a traditional mountain dinner, radio communications, and collective technical gear; participants should bring personal sleeping systems if instructed or confirm overnight arrangements with the operator.
