You set off before dawn from Puerto Natales, the van's headlights cutting through Patagonian air as the pampas slide by. Two hours later, the trailhead feels raw and immediate: lenga forests hush behind you, the river dares you to move faster, and the path begins its steady climb toward the stone towers that define Torres del Paine.
