Arrive hydrated and fueled
Eat a solid breakfast and drink water before meeting; you’ll be active for most of the day and won’t want low energy during rappels or jumps.
Layer for cold water
Even in summer the canyon pools are cold—wear the supplied wetsuit over a synthetic base layer and bring a fleece for the drive back.
Practice weight and balance
Rappels require steady foot placement—practice controlled descending on stairs or a short rock pitch if you’re nervous about heights.
Follow guide instructions exactly
Guides run mandatory rope safety clinics and will set anchors and belts—obey their commands to keep descents smooth and safe.
Sturdy water shoes or canyon shoes
Good traction for wet rock and protection in pools—neoprene booties are provided but bring your own if preferred.
