You start before the heat, collected from Ubud and driven toward Saba Bay where the beach's black sand stretches in a low arc. A calm stable waits; saddles creak and horses sniff the salt air as you step into a paced hour of riding through a Balinese village and then along a ten-kilometer coastline. The sea pulls at the horizon while the horse moves steadily, offering a different rhythm to island travel.
