The engine rumbles to life and the trail pulls you out of Ubud’s village lanes and into a landscape that refuses to stand still: terraced rice slopes, narrow coffee plots, a small river daring you to cross, and steep climbs that test the throttle.
challenging.
1–2 hours.
Good cardiovascular fitness and basic core strength; able to mount/dismount and manage uneven terrain for up to 90 minutes.
No formal experience is required, but riders should be comfortable with basic throttle and brake control; guides provide a safety briefing and practice run.
Children from about age 7 can ride as tandem passengers with an adult present; solo riding usually requires a minimum age (commonly 16). Check operator rules when booking.
Rain makes trails muddy and more technical; many operators continue in light rain but may cancel for safety—confirm cancellation and refund policies when you book.
Some packages include hotel pickup and drop-off; choose the option with transfers if you want door-to-door service and a smoother start.
Fields visible from the trail are often managed through Bali’s Subak irrigation system, a centuries-old cooperative framework that links agriculture and village ritual.
Stick to designated tracks, avoid disturbing rice paddies and temple compounds, and carry out any trash—tours operate best when they support local land use and minimize erosion.
