The morning begins with the roar of engines and the river’s constant hush—two very different rhythms that make up a single Ubud day of action. Riders clamber into ATVs, tires spitting red jungle soil as guides point toward rocky tracks. Later, the Ayung River narrows and then opens, pulling paddles into white water beneath cliffs and small waterfalls.
