Adventure tips

Bring motion-sickness remediesThe expressway keeps the transit smooth but open-water sections can be choppy—take medication or acupressure bands if you get seasick.

Sun protection is non-negotiableA broad-brim hat, SPF 30+ sunscreen, and polarized sunglasses will make kayak time and deck lounging far more comfortable.

Wear reef or water shoesBoarding small boats and walking on jagged limestone or sandy beaches is easier and safer with protective footwear.

Carry local currency for small purchasesVung Vieng and vendors at the port may only accept cash for souvenirs or snacks—bring some Vietnamese đồng.

Recommended gear

Refillable water bottle: Staying hydrated is critical during long transfers and sun-exposed kayak sessions.
Reef/water shoes: Protects feet on rocky landings, beach exits, and when climbing cave steps.
Light waterproof jacket: Useful in sudden tropical squalls or breezy evenings on deck.
Small dry bag: Keeps phone, camera, and essentials dry during kayak and bamboo-boat sections.
