Sun protectionEven short kayak trips expose you to reflected sun—use high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses and a brimmed hat.

Local currency & tipsCarry small Vietnamese đồng for village purchases and gratuities; some vendors won’t accept cards.

Footwear for shore stopsPack lightweight, closed-toe sandals or water shoes for bamboo-boat transfers, beach swims and cave approaches.

Recommended gear

Motion-sickness remedy: Prevents nausea during open-water stretches and tender transfers.
Waterproof daypack: Keeps camera, phone and layers dry during kayak or bamboo-boat outings.
Sun hat and sunglasses: Essential for reflected glare on the bay and long periods on deck.
