Morning light pours across rice paddies as the minivan hums out of Hanoi and into the flat, green lowlands of Ninh Binh. By midmorning you step beneath a vaulted karst mouth into Trang An’s river caves, sliding on a bamboo boat while limestone cliffs lean in like curious neighbors. The water moves with purpose, nudging you through Bright Cave and Dark Cave, and the guide points to temple facades half-hidden in shadow.
