History

Badaling was a strategic Ming Dynasty section of the Great Wall with earlier Northern Qi foundations; Longqing Gorge reveals river-carved limestone formations tied to the region’s uplift and erosion.

Conservation

High visitor numbers can accelerate wear on stone steps and trails—stick to designated paths, avoid climbing on fragile masonry, and follow local waste rules.
