The river greets you before you fully arrive: cool spray, a low churn of water, and a guide tightening a helmet. From the meeting point near Ubud you descend stone stairs to the Ayung’s edge, where rafts sit ready to push off through a corridor of tropical forest and small waterfalls that punctuate the current.
