Makoa Quest is a Kihei, Hawaii-based experience provider specializing in culturally grounded outdoor tours and hands-on Hawaiian practices. The company offers a range of guided experiences including outrigger canoe paddles at Ko'ie'ie Fishponds, fishpond restoration paddles, cultural kayak tours, kayak-and-snorkel trips, jungle mountain bike adventures, kava (awa) ceremonies paired with Hawaiian mythology, storytelling forest walks with lei making, and a dedicated lei making and hula experience.
Each tour blends outdoor activity with cultural interpretation. Cultural practitioners guide paddling and kayak tours that explain ancient wayfinding, ocean stewardship, and the role of fishponds in Hawaiian life. The fishpond restoration option connects participants to local mālama ʻāina (land care) work at Ko'ie'ie Fishponds. Water-based tours include snorkeling opportunities that focus on respectful ocean practices.
On land, jungle mountain bike routes offer scenic exploration alongside cultural context and ecological information. Storytelling forest walks and lei-making sessions introduce native plants and craft practices, while the hula and lei-making experience supports local youth programs as part of its community focus. The kava ceremony invites participants to share reflections while learning stories of Hawaiian mythology.
