Alaskan Husky Adventures is a family-owned and operated champion sled dog kennel based in Willow, Alaska — a community often called the mushing capital of the world. The kennel specializes in authentic dog-powered experiences year-round, introducing guests to Iditarod dogs and the kennel’s team of distance-racing champions. Guests meet the dogs, tour the kennel, and learn about a dog-driven lifestyle guided by experienced mushers.
The operation offers both winter sled rides and summer cart sledding on private training trails used for Iditarod preparation. Summer carts seat two people each and run on secluded trails through Alaska spruce and birch. Winter options include traditional sled rides, hands-on “mush your own team” experiences, and specialty outings like a Christmas tree sled ride. Longer programs — including a five-hour “Run with the Pack” adventure led by an Iditarod finisher — provide in-depth mushing and kennel interaction for small groups.
Alaskan Husky Adventures combines rustic, educational tours with high-adrenaline mushing. The kennel emphasizes safety, personal interaction with champion dogs, and scenic routes with Denali views. Visitors can also join mixed-activity days such as fishing and sled rides or seasonal mountain mushing through historic gold-mining hills. All experiences are presented in a third-person, visitor-focused format and are rooted in the kennel’s in-place training trails, local knowledge, and proven race-line dogs.
“Every outing is organized with local river knowledge, basic safety instruction, and equipment checks before departure.”
